General Manager Cam Russell sent a buzz over a large crowd at Le Colisee in Quebec City Saturday morning when he announced the Mooseheads have selected John (Jack) Eichel of the Boston Jr Bruins 15th overall.  Eichel, 6'0 175lbs, recorded 36 goals and 41 assists in 32 games as Captain of the Jr Bruins last season as a 15yr old.

With their 44th pick the Mooseheads selected Jonathan Lacroix-Courville from Gatineau Midget AAA.  The 5'10" 176lbs forward recorded 11 goals, 17 assists, 62 penalty minutes in 42 games last season.

With the 106th pick the Mooseheads selected another player expected to challenge for a 4th line role next season, Liam Alcade of Ontario Hockey Academy.  Alcade is a solid 5'11" 200lbs forward who recorded 25 goals in 32 games last season.

At 124th overall, the Mooseheads went local select 6'1" 175lbs defenceman Nicholas Gibson of the Halifax Titans Major Midget program.  Gibson is a native of Boutiliers Point, Nova Scotia.

With the 178th pick, the Mooseheads selected Dartmouth Major Midget Captain Evan MacEachern.  MacEachern, 5'9" 155lbs, played last season for former Mooseheads Assistant Coach Jason Troini where he collected 22 points in 35 games for the Ice Dawgs.

At 196, the Mooseheads kept the streak of local picks going by selecting forward John Mullally.  Mullally played last season with the NS Major Midget Champion Halifax Titans. He has 29 points in 34 games for the Titans this season.

With the 213th pick, the Herd selected another American forward, John Hayden, with the US U-17 Team.  Hayden is a big strong forward standing 6'2" 185lbs.

The Mooseheads got back to their local flavour of this draft selecting another defenceman from the Halifax Major Midget Titans, Brett McNeil, at 231st overall.

With the Moosheads final pick of the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft, the Mooseheads selected another forward Benji Gaudet from the Cornwall Major Midget program in PEI.

The Mooseheads selected 6 forwards and 3 defencemen during the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft.  The Mooseheads Organization would like to thank the organizing committee of the 2012 Entry Draft, the Quebec Remparts and the City of Quebec for an outstanding draft. Merci beaucoup!
