Moose Sweat it up at Moksha
-Dennis Leary for www.halifaxmooseheads.ca
The Halifax Mooseheads took some time on Tuesday as team for deep breaths and lots of stretching in sweltering heat. All of the players gave hot yoga a try at the Moksha Hot Yoga studio on Dresden Row.
"Moksha Hot Yoga offers lots of benefits for hockey players and all athletes. It improves flexibility, targeting those muscles that tend to be tight in hockey players (shoulders, hamstrings, quadriceps, and hips) while also improving range of motion in the joints,” said instructor Kyla MacKinnon who guided the team through their one hour session.
While sure footed on the ice, there seemed to be some wobbling at the start of class on their yoga mats but as group began to get the hang of it as the class wore on.
“It was good to get out of our comfort zone and challenge ourselves, it was tough and different but we did a good job overall,” said second year forward Luca Ciampini.
“Moksha Yoga Halifax is thrilled to reach out to the community and share their passion for creating a calm mind, fit body and inspired life with such a talented group of athletes,” said Moksha’s Assistant Manager, MacKinnon. “It was fun seeing the Mooseheads do their best in our hot room and we wish them good luck on the ice!"
The Mooseheads are 4-0 in the pre-season so far and will take a deep breath and stretch before their two games coming up this weekend against Moncton.
