Lewis, Fournier named Co-Captains of Halifax Mooseheads

Halifax Mooseheads Head Coach Dominique Ducharme named his Captains and Alternate Captains this afternoon for the upcoming season.

Stefan Fournier, a 20 year old forward from Dorval, Quebec and 19 year old Trey Lewis from Aldouane, New Brunwick will co-captain this year’s Club.  Lewis will assume the duties as Captain during home games for the first half of the season, while Fournier will Captain the Club on the road.  The two will switch duties mid-season.

Fournier, acquired this summer from the Victoriaville Tigres, is a big rugged forward expected to play on a line with sophomores Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin.  He recorded 32 goals, 33 assists and 96 penalty minutes in 64 games last season for the Tigres.

Lewis is entering his 3rd season in Halifax and will again be a mainstay on the blueline for the Herd.   The feared defender recorded 20 points and 77 penalty minutes in 66 games last season.

Both Fournier and Lewis will assume duties as alternate captains when they are not wearing in the role of Captain.

Hunter River, PEI native Brent Andrews will serve as an Alternate Captain.  Andrews is a solid two way forward who led the league in shorthanded goals last season and is entering his 4th year with the Mooseheads.

The third alternate captain will rotate on a game to game basis among the remaining roster.

The Mooseheads kick off their 19th season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Friday night against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in Sydney.  They will play in PEI on Sunday afternoon against the Rocket before returning to the Metro Centre for their home opener Friday, September 28th at 7pm versus the Gatineau Olympiques.
