FITZGERALD LATEST INJURED MOOSE BLUELINER

The Halifax Mooseheads will be without rookie defenseman Cavan Fitzgerald for eight weeks with a fractured patella, after he was hurt during Saturday’s 6-5 overtime loss to Saint John. Fitzgerald was taken hard into the boards by Sea Dogs forward Matthew Highmore early in the first period in a race for the puck. Highmore was issued a cross checking penalty on the play.

The 18-year-old from Lingan, NS is the latest casualty on the Mooseheads blueline with veteran Jesse Lussier already out for up to eight weeks with a broken wrist. Austyn Hardie and Josh Fitzgerald recently returned to the lineup after both had suffered injuries during the preseason. The team is still without 19-year-old Matt Murphy who is attending training camp with the Ottawa Senators.

The Mooseheads (1-2-1) return to action on Friday night at 7pm when they host the Chicoutimi Sagueneens (1-3) at Scotiabank Centre.
