The Mooseheads are lending a hand during the 28th Annual IWK Telethon for Children which will be broadcast on CTV this weekend (June 2 & 3rd). Ryan Falkenham and Mitchell Shewfelt who both enjoyed successful rookie seasons with the Herd will take donation calls during the telethon and sign autographs for fans who donate in person at the IWK Health Centre on Sunday, June 3rd

"We are delighted to have Mitchell and Ryan volunteer this year, “ said Joanna Hamilton who is the Manager of Annual Giving at the IWK. “The money raised through the Telethon ensures the IWK can provide excellence in specialized care to thousands of critically-ill children and their families."

Falkenham and Shewfelt’s goal will be to help raise enough money to purchase a much needed Anesthesia machine which is used each and every day in both

the Children’s and Women’s programs at the IWK, including the Operating Rooms, the Birth Unit and the Diagnostic Imaging Department.

“The anesthesia machines are used for all surgeries where the patient has to be put to sleep and in diagnostic imaging for patients that need to be sedated for MRI’s, CAT scans or nuclear medicine scans where it’s important that they remain very still,” explains Dr. Allison Gray, a pediatric anesthesiologist

at the IWK Health Centre. “The machines perform three key functions during surgeries and procedures – they delivering anesthetic gases to keep patients asleep, monitor patient vital signs and provide life support.”

To make a donation you can stop by the IWK at 5850 University Avenue on Sunday, June 3rd between 10am and noon and get an autograph from both Mooseheads players if you make your donation in person. You can also call The Telethon Pledge number (1-800-595-2266) during the CTV broadcast times:

Saturday, June 2 from 7 pm – midnight

Sunday, June 3 from 8 am to 6:45 pm

Or make your donation online at www.iwkfoundation.org
