The Halifax Mooseheads bolstered their blue line on Friday morning in Sherbrooke when the expected deal with the Remparts was made official. Defenseman Cody Donaghey was dealt to the Moose and the Remparts 2018 second round draft pick was returned to Quebec. The pick was orginially acquired in December’s big trade that sent Zach Fucale and Matt Murphy to the Remparts.

Donaghey, 19, played in just 27 games last season due to an injury but managed to score four goals and 11 assists in that short span. The St. John’s, NL native had 38 points for Quebec in 2013-2014 and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Toronto Maple Leafs that summer.

The six-foot-one 191 pound rearguard was selected in the first round, 14th overall by Rouyn-Noranda in the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft.
