Moose Say Goodbyes at Fan Farewell

Moose Country came out in huge numbers yet again to officially sign off on what was a successful 2011/2012 season for the Halifax Mooseheads. The Fan Farewell took place at the home of the Herd, the Halifax Metro Centre on Tuesday night between 6 and 8pm.
Fans of all ages lined up to pass along their congratulations, get autographs and talk with their favourite Mooseheads. The three graduating members of the team Captain Cameron Critchlow, Alexandre Grenier and Travis Randell got a lot of attention as fans were curious as to where the three 20 year olds predict their hockey careers will take them next season.
A career Moosehead from the small town of Twillingate, Newfoundland, Travis Randell’s 316 games played over five seasons with the Herd places him second in franchise history for games played, behind only Brandon Benedict’s 343. Randell who was known for being a defensive forward totalled 118 PTS (45G, 73A) and just 88 PIM in his career with Halifax. He is one of only 4 players to play 5 seasons in Moose Country.
Although he is 20 years old, the 6’05” Alexandre Grenier’s season in Halifax was his first full QMJHL season. The late bloomer finally got his chance half way through last season when Patrick Roy called him up to the Quebec Remparts. Grenier’s 40 PTS (17G, 23A) in just 46 games caught the attention of Vancouver Canucks General Manager, Mike Gillis who drafted Grenier in the third round (90th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. This season Grenier finished second on the Mooseheads in regular season scoring behind only Nathan MacKinnon racking up 64 PTS (25G, 39A) in 64 regular season games with the Mooseheads and added another 16 PTS (4G, 12A) in 17 playoff games.
Cameron Critchlow was the excellent example of a Captain on and off the ice and quickly became a fan favourite with his strong work ethic. Critchlow was recognized as the 2011/2012 QMJHL’s Dickies’ Hardest Working Player and will be known for his heroic four goal, game seven performance against the Quebec Remparts that propelled the Mooseheads to their first semi-final appearance in since 2005. Critchlow played five seasons in the QMJHL spending three seasons with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, two with the Lewiston Maineiacs and his final season in Halifax. Critchlow accumulated 164 PTS (68G, 96A) and 384 PIM in 299 QMJHL games.
The Mooseheads organization and their fans would like to wish all three departing players the very best in their future and thank them for their exciting time in Moose Country. As some fans noted training camp will be here a lot quicker than last season when the team will meet again in August at Cole Harbour Place.
